About us
Sakura Judo is a member of the British Judo Association (BJA), established by Daran Gagin in April 2015.

How much does it cost?
If this is your first lesson with us, you can train for free! However, for all of your other lessons at Sakura Judo, we have 2 different ways of paying.

Our first payment method is a pay-as-you-go system. We usually recommend this method to people who can't commit to regular training sessions. With the pay-and-go method, we charge £5 per session, per judoka.
Our second payment method (and probably our most popular), is our monthly payment plan. We usually ask for payments at the start of the month, ready for the first training session of the month.

1 session a week for 1 person £x per month
2 sessions a week for 1 person £x per month
1 session a week for 2 people £x per month
2 sessions a week for 2 people £x per month
Belts and grading
Before you can start gradings, you will have to register with the British Judo Association and purchase a judo license.
The way we run gradings at Sakura Judo is slightly different for juniors than seniors.

Gradings for juniors over the age of 8 take place on a Saturday afternoon, twice a year. Seeing as the junior class often has 20+ members, having gradings on a separate day will ensure the juniors have enough practice in their lesson time and prevent them from being removed halfway through a class to complete their grading. All of our 8+ juniors are graded using tabs instead of full belts.
With juniors under 8, we do not perform traditional gradings, but instead, we focus on refining their motor skills and basic judo skills and reward our judokas with a certificate to recognise their efforts.
Gradings for seniors are usually undertaken during the session; seeing as there are fewer numbers and longer class times. All seniors are graded using full belts.
